Established in 2019, Origins is the national championship for collegiate Indian classical dance, showcasing Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, and Odissi. Drawing on the theatrical roots of these styles, teams choreograph pieces that present stories in a contemporary setting through footwork, expression, and formations.

Each season, teams compete across a circuit of intercollegiate bid competitions, with the top eight advancing to the Origins National Championship.
